January and February are packed with events - Are these dates in your diaries?

 

  • Year 9 Parental Consultation evening will be held from 18:00 on Thursday 2nd February. As above, parents of all students in year 9 are encouraged to make appointments and celebrate the progress of students in year 9.
  • Our annual Music and Maths Pub Quiz will take place at the Pirates' Clubhouse on Alexandra Road at 19:00 on Friday 3rd February. Further details here - Music+and+Maths+Pub+Quiz
  • The International Prefects, School Council, Amnesty Group and the trainee journalists are going to Brussels in order to interview Sir Giles Chichester, our MEP on Monday 6th February.
  • Friday 10th February is a training day for staff and school is closed for students.
  • The school will be closed for half term between Monday 13th and Friday 17th February.

OfSTED 2011: Now for 'Outstanding'!Cornishman article September 2008

"You may recall the article on the right, published in the Cornishman when I started in September 2008. I spoke then about the ‘atmosphere of positive anticipation’ amongst staff and students and my personal target of achieving recognition as an ‘Outstanding School’ within five years. Some cast doubt at the time, but I am delighted that our OfSTED inspection team have recognised the fantastic progress made and the quality of provision that now exists here at the school with 5 judgements of 'Outstanding'!"   Bill Marshall, Headteacher.

  • Under 13 West Cornwall 6-a-side Indoor Cricket Tournament - 10th January

    Continuing what has become something of an annual tradition in the Humphry Davy sporting calendar, the team comprising three Year 7 pupils and three Year 8 competed very well at this tournament. First up were local rivals Mounts Bay who took the game to us straight from the off taking three wickets in the first over.

  • Incredible Achievements of Matt Robinson

    Although most of us will be thinking about the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, you could forgive Year 9 pupil Matt Robinson for perhaps thinking about the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro or beyond that to the 2020 Games. Following what has been something of a whirlwind few months for Matt and his family since June last year; he has now been selected for the FA South West Cerebral Palsy Centre of Excellence Squad based in Taunton.
